Creative Sewing Weekends

CREATIVE SEWING WEEKEND

27th – 29th September 2013

Come away for a weekend of sewing pleasure. You’ll learn new skills, meet new friends
and enjoy a relaxing break away from it all as well as sharing your hobby.
We’ve a choice of THREE workshops for this weekend.

1. Proper Bags with Feet and Fastenings – Jennie Rayment
Work from a choice of four fabulous bag patterns and make yourself a bag to be proud of. Find out how to insert metal feet and fastenings with a professional finish.

2. Soluble Sewing with Wendy Gardiner
Expand the boundaries of your sewing experience – work on specialist Vilene to create lacy, wool or textural surfaces and then turn them into a pretty shawl, bag or scarf. You’ll use wool, silks, soluble Vilene and machine stitching.

3. Chanel-style jacket with Lorna Knight
Come and learn the techniques involved in making a Chanel-style jacket complete with quilted lining and gold chain weight. Make your own version to wear and flaunt.

4.Creating lace using embroidery machines and software.
We will start by creating a simple lace bookmark and add further embellishment to it. You will learn how the lace net, that all lace is based on, is made and then use it in creative way. The lace will be worked totally on water soluble fabric. This course will be suitable for all levels as I will bring the prepared designs with me for people to stitch out.
