CREATIVE SEWING WEEKENDS 2023

We have some great weekends this year. All will be held at the New Place Hotel, Shirrel Heath, Near Wickham, Hampshire.  We are also offering the option of extending the weekend by coming for additional tuition on the Friday 10am – 3.30pm (with those opting for Traditional weekend joining the class at 3.30 – 5.30pm).

16^th – 18^th June 2023

Wacky ways with Waistcoats or Tuck up a Textured Masterpiece with Jennie Rayment
Play with fabric, add some twiddles and fiddles to create tactile panels for inclusion in a waistcoat or combine together for a wall-hanging, small quilt. If preferred use the ideas for cushions and bags. It's magic movements with material!

Summer Sewing with Wendy Gardiner

Get set for summer by making one or two simple summer dresses, palazzo pants and/or camisole tops. Learn to make spaghetti straps the easy way, sew with silky fabrics without drama and seam choices so the unlined inside looks as good as the outside! This is an opportunity to make simple look stunning and get set for a summer holiday!

Introduction to Stitchbooking with Kim Burton

Create a fabric scrapbook using your own photos to celebrate your family or personal history. Stitchbooking is a fusion between scrapbooking and textile art and features blank fabric books that can be decorated using a wide variety of textile techniques.  Learn how to transfer your photos onto fabric, create interesting page backgrounds and create text to explain your story.

Just a bit of Quilting! with Jennie Rayment

Choose from a range of quick pieced designs and make a throw or lap quilt. Finish it in the weekend! Alternatively do your own thing!!!

Create your own Perfect Body Double and Patternless Top with Wendy Gardiner

Having a perfect sized mannequin makes fitting for yourself so much easier. Come and learn to make your own body double starting with an adjustable dressform, padding and plenty of measurements! Wendy will show you how to take the many measurements you need and then adjust your form to replicate you! Then test it out by making a patternless top, using the Body Double to fit it perfectly of course! Alternatively, you can bring your own pattern and benefit from Wendy’s expertise and help to create your own look.

Intermediate/Advanced Machine Embroidery with Lyn Quin

Join Lyn for the weekend and increase your knowledge of machine embroidery.  You will have a choice of stitching out wall hangings, table runners, bags. There are eight designs to choose from all from Kreative Kiwi and Stitch Delight (available at discounted cost as they are purchased for individual use only).  The designs are available for all hoop sizes so can be used on a variety of machine embroidery machines. Some of these designs can be stitched in a 4x4 hoop up to 9.5” x 14” hoops.

The venue

The weekends are held at the New Place Hotel, Shirrel Heath (near Wickham, Hampshire).  This splendid listed hotel has a purpose built conference centre, excellent leisure suite and well equipped bedrooms with en-suite facilities. The hotel is fabulously decorated and is the location of breakfast and dinner. Our workshops are held in the well equipped, light and roomy conference rooms. And to relax, there is a large leisure suite with pool, Jacuzzi, gym etc etc – oh and there’s a nice bar!

The price for the weekend is just £425 per person. We also offer day rates for those not wishing to stay, and partner rates for those who wish to bring a partner.  Great news is that the weekend starts at 2pm Friday – with arrival and settle in, then a 2 hour class from 3.30-5.30. We finish at 4pm Sunday

What’s included in the price of £425:

• 2 nights accommodation at the New Place Hotel, Shirrel Heath (near Wickham, Hampshire). This fabulous listed hotel has a purpose-built conference centre, excellent leisure suite and beautifully appointed rooms with en-suite, tea and coffee facilities, single occupancy (unless you choose to share)
• Full board – dinner Friday, breakfast, lunch, dinner on Saturday, breakfast and lunch on Sunday – plus biscuits and cakes in between!
• Coffee/tea available throughout the day in a Coffee Lounge.
• 2 ½ days of tuition with expert tutors Friday 3.30 5.30pm, Saturday 9 –5pm, Sunday 9 – 4pm.
• Well equipped roomy conference rooms with great lighting and plenty of power points!
• Evening entertainment on Friday and Saturday
• Free WiFi throughout the venue
• Free parking
• Free to use Leisure suite with pool, sauna and well equipped gym (towels provided)
• Beautiful grounds for walks

Additional Friday tuition - £78

This includes tuition from 10am – 3.30pm with lunch, and teas and coffees throughout the day.

You can also opt to stay the Thursday night (Cost £79 for Bed and Breakfast) either booked directly with the hotel or via us.
