Tucked-up & Embellished Circles
 
Experiment with these delectable, textural and tactile circular designs. Tuck, twist and twiddle the pleats for a stunning square or circular wall-hanging, cushion or quilt centre. Embellish the tucked edges with stitch or yarn, Add an interesting textured edging and binding, some decorative stitching. Mount the panel onto batting and backing then complete with a little machine quilting - free or otherwise.
  
 

Requirements
These designs can be made from one colour or use a variety of materials but plain/hand-dyed/self patterned are probably the better choice. If desired, pre-wash all materials but use a spray starch when pressing to restore ‘body’. Cotton materials are preferable. Students choosing to work all in muslin are advised to select a medium weight material. Please cut all pieces before class.
 
Cut:
 
Circle: One 25" square
Edging and Binding: one 15" square
Textured Inserts: Twelve 4" squares
 
Background: One 25 - 30” square.
Batting or Wadding: Cut one square of each measuring the same size as the Background Square
 
Coloured yarn and or coloured threads for embellishment
Sewing machine, foot control, all presser feet including darning/hopper foot/free motion foot or walking foot + instruction book,
Thread to match fabric,
Notepad, pencil
General sewing accessories,
Rotary cutting mat, cutter & 24” long ruler (if you have one)
Camera (for taking stage samples)
Spectacles (if required)
